Text Box: Pink Noise
(György Buzsáki; Rhythms of the Brain, 119)

Power spectrum of EEG from the right temporal lobe region in a sleeping human subject (subdural recording). Note the near-linear decrease of log power with increasing log frequency from 0.5 to 100 Hz, the characteristic feature of "pink" or "complex" noise. The arrow indicates the peak at alpha (~11 Hz).

The amplitude of the EEG power spectrum increases as the frequency decreases.  This inverse relationship is expressed as the "one over f" power spectrum (also called "pink" noise). (Buzsáki - Rhythms of the Brain, 119)
